Spotlight: Sierra Leone’s Progress Toward Hepatitis B Elimination
This session will highlight Sierra Leone’s remarkable progress toward hepatitis B elimination, showcasing both national-level milestones and the powerful community-led efforts driving change on the ground. Speakers will present findings from the national hepatitis B serosurvey, offering critical insights into prevalence, immunity, and priority populations for action. The webinar will also introduce the newly developed national hepatitis B treatment and prevention guidelines and outline the country’s strategic plan for elimination — a coordinated framework that aligns evidence, policy, and implementation to meet national and global targets. In addition to these system-level updates, the session will feature a spotlight on community engagement and advocacy. The KnowHep Foundation will illustrate how grassroots leadership, local innovation, and patient-centered outreach are essential components of Sierra Leone’s elimination efforts. Together, the presentations will illuminate how national strategy and community action are working hand in hand to move Sierra Leone closer to hepatitis B elimination.
